Dante Carnevale Dante Carnevale, 24, is co-founder of the American Sports Digest. In addition to his work with the ASD, Dante is a sports writer for the Southern Rhode Island newspaper group. Before joining Southern R.I. newspapers, he worked as a freelance reporter for the Warwick Beacon and Cranston Herald. Dante is a native of Cranston, R.I. He attended Cranston High School East, where he played varsity baseball, football, and indoor track. In his senior year Dante received All-Division honors in all three sports. After high school, Dante enrolled at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. In 2004, he received a B.A. in History. During his time at UMass, Dante became a brother of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and participated in a number of intramural sports. He was the cleanup hitter on UMass’ 2001 championship softball team. Upon leaving Amherst, Dante returned home to pursue a career in secondary education. While taking courses for his teaching certification, he served as an assistant football coach at his high school alma mater. In 2005, Dante decided to put his teaching plans on hold to pursue a career in sports journalism, which had long been an ambition of his. He still coaches football for the Cranston East Thunderbolts, who went 10-3 in the 2005 season en route to the Rhode Island Division II title. Dante currently lives in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
